Managing Contracts
Learn how to organize, search, edit, and delete your contracts in Renewly.
Organizing with Tags
Tags help you categorize and find contracts quickly:
- Add tags: Click "Add Tag" in contract details
- Suggested uses: Vendor names, departments, contract types
- Multiple tags: Add as many tags as needed per contract
- Filter by tag: Click a tag to see all contracts with that tag
Tag Best Practices
- Use consistent naming (e.g., "SaaS" not "saas" or "SAAS")
- Keep tags simple and descriptive
- Common tags: vendor name, contract type, department, priority
Searching Contracts
Find contracts quickly using the search bar at the top of the Contracts page.
What You Can Search
- Party names: Search for vendors, clients, or contact names
- Contract values: Search by dollar amounts
- Dates: Search by expiration or effective dates

Advanced Filtering
Renewly provides powerful filtering to find exactly the contracts you need. Use multiple filters in combination to narrow results.
Filter Categories
Status Filter
- Active: Contracts currently in effect
- Expiring Soon: Contracts expiring within 30 days
- Expired: Contracts past their expiration date
- All: View all contracts regardless of status
Risk Level Filter
- Low: Minor concerns or standard clauses
- Medium: Moderate concerns requiring review
- High: Significant issues requiring immediate attention
Auto-Renewal Filter
- Auto-Renews: Contracts with automatic renewal clauses
- Manual: Contracts requiring manual renewal
- All: View all contracts regardless of renewal type
Contracts that auto-renew have a notice deadline — the last date you can cancel or renegotiate before being locked into another term. Use this filter to quickly identify which contracts need proactive attention before their notice deadlines pass.
For details on how notice deadlines are calculated and what severity levels mean, see Auto-Renewal Traps.
Date Range Filter
- Custom Range: Choose specific start and end dates
- Last 30 Days: Contracts expiring in the past month
- Last 90 Days: Contracts expiring in the past quarter
- Next 30 Days: Contracts expiring in the next month
- Next 90 Days: Contracts expiring in the next quarter
Value Range Filter
- Filter contracts by minimum and maximum dollar value
- Useful for focusing on high-value renewals or budget planning
- Enter values in USD format
Requires Review Filter
- Contracts flagged for manual review
- Typically contracts with low confidence scores or unusual terms
- Review these contracts to ensure accuracy
Using Multiple Filters
Combine filters to narrow results and find specific contracts:
- Example: "High Risk" + "Expiring Soon" shows urgent contracts
- Active filters display as chips above the contract list
- Click "Clear Filters" to reset all filters at once
- Search works in combination with filters for precise results
Pro Tip
Your filter preferences persist during your session. Use browser bookmarks to save specific filter combinations for quick access.

Understanding Status Badges
Each contract displays visual badges to help you quickly identify important information at a glance.
Expiration Status Badges
Color-coded badges with clock icons show expiration urgency:
- Red Badge: Contract is expired
- Amber Badge: Contract expiring within 30 days (urgent action required)
- Gray Badge: Contract expiration is 30+ days away
Status Indicators
Additional badges provide quick context:
- Active: Contract is currently in effect
- Expiring Soon: Less than 30 days until expiration
- Expired: Past the expiration date
- Auto-Renewal: Contract will automatically renew
- Requires Review: Flagged for manual attention (typically low confidence or unusual terms)
Why This Matters
Visual badges let you scan your contract list quickly without reading dates. Focus on red and amber badges to prioritize urgent renewals.
