Question 1

How do I calculate a contract cancellation deadline?

Accepted Answer

Take the contract's renewal or end date and count back by the notice period stated in the agreement (commonly 30, 60, or 90 days). The result is the last day you can give notice to cancel or renegotiate before the contract auto-renews.

Question 2

What is a notice period on an auto-renewing contract?

Accepted Answer

A notice period is the minimum number of days before the renewal date by which you must tell the vendor you are cancelling or renegotiating. Miss it and most contracts renew automatically for another term.
